This special temporary exhibition presents the highlights of the collection of the Diamond Museum Amsterdam while the museum prepares for its new home. The journey begins three billion years ago, two hundred kilometres below the earth, and ends in the ring on your finger. You follow Amsterdam’s rise as the City of Diamonds, the cleavers and polishers whose hands shaped the gems of empires, and the four centuries of history that turned this city into the heart of the trade.
Throughout the exhibition you will find replicas of the world’s most famous diamonds, including the Cullinan, the Hope, the Orlov, the Regent and the rare Moussaieff Red. Among the showpieces are a Murano glass Katana set with 1,967 diamonds and 494 rubies and a diamond Ape Skull encrusted with 17,000 brilliants. Replicas of royal regalia, including the coronation crown of Louis XV, the Imperial State Crown of England, the Russian Imperial Tiara, the golden laurel wreath of Napoleon and the jewels of the Dutch House of Oranje-Nassau, complete the journey.
Become part of a legacy of brilliance.
