Step into the world of Royal Coster Diamonds and explore the rich heritage of Amsterdam’s diamond tradition. Since 1840, Coster has cut and polished some of the most famous stones in the world, including the Koh-i-Noor for Queen Victoria and the Star of the South. Today that legacy continues, and with a single ticket you experience both the living craft and the four centuries of history behind it.
Your visit starts with a thirty minute guided tour through the factory floor. Master polishers and goldsmiths work in front of you, turning rough stones into sparkling masterpieces. You are guided through the art of diamond valuation using the 4 C’s of Carat, Clarity, Color and Cut. Admire the Royal 201, Coster’s signature cut and the most sparkling round cut natural diamond in the world. And see the replica of the legendary Koh-i-Noor, the stone re-polished by Coster’s craftsmen for Queen Victoria in 1852.
From the factory floor you walk straight into a special exhibition where Diamond Museum Amsterdam presents the highlights of its collection while the museum prepares for its new home. The journey begins three billion years ago, two hundred kilometres below the earth, and ends in the ring on your finger. You follow Amsterdam’s rise as the City of Diamonds, the cleavers and polishers whose hands shape
d the gems of empires, and the four centuries of history that turned this city into the heart of the trade.
Throughout the exhibition you will find replicas of the world’s most famous diamonds, including the Cullinan, the Hope, the Orlov, the Regent and the rare Moussaieff Red. Among the showpieces are a Murano glass Katana set with 1,967 diamonds and 494 rubies and a diamond Ape Skull encrusted with 17,000 brilliants. Replicas of royal regalia, including the coronation crown of Louis XV, the Imperial State Crown of England, the Russian Imperial Tiara, the golden laurel wreath of Napoleon and the jewels of the Dutch House of Oranje-Nassau, complete the journey.
End your visit in the Coster boutique, where you can browse the diamond collection and enjoy 16% tax-free shopping as a non-EU guest.
Become part of a legacy of brilliance.
